Kep Clam and Curry On

After our hectic week of weddings, temples and the heart break of the killing fields we decided we needed a few chilled days and a chance to indulge in some seafood. Kep (sur mer) seemed to be the perfect getaway. We secured a good deal in a fantastic little resort called Spring Valley, minutes walk […]

Year Zero

Following on from our visit to Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum.   Later that day we made the journey to the Killing Fields of Cheoung Ek. While not the only Killing Field in Cambodia, Cheoung Ek is the most famous due to its connection with S-21 and it’s proximity to Phnom Penh. On arrival it looks no […]

Heart of Darkness

Today was our darkest day since we began our trip. We decided our full day in Phnom Penh would be dedicated to a trip to Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (S-21), and the Killing Fields of Cheoung Ek. This was going to be a tough day but these were two places we were both keen to […]

Shadow of Angkor!

It was 4.50 am we were woken by our trusty friend Sophoryl calling us to say the original pick up time of 5.30 am would be late to catch sunrise. So we jumped up quickly and threw on some clothes before jumping into his tuk tuk. This was going to be our final glimpse of […]

Made in Cambodia!!

As the weeks of travelling had past, Karen’s hair had become more and more out of control. The heat has dyed it light and made it grow very quickly. The once neat bob had become an out of control mess with her fringe pull back by her running hair band or clasps. Never fear Charya […]

“Vanity Khmer” Wedding Shoot

It was 6am. Karen was attempting to blow dry her hair and apply make up for the first time since Mumbai. We were getting collected at 6.45 am to head to day one of the Khmer wedding celebrations of Charya and Michel. This was a long lie in as the full bridal party had been […]

Cha Cha Cha (tachuk)

After the full day of palaces and sight seeing, Karen was palaced out…this called for retail therapy. There was only one place to go on a Sunday in Bangkok, Chatuchak weekend market. Chatuchak is the largest market in Thailand and the world’s largest weekend market. Frequently called J.J it covers over 35 acres and contains […]

Nepal Highlights

Our 16 days in spectacular Nepal came to an end and we made it out the country with lots of tales but no visa issues.

The Elephants went in two by two…

Hurrah hurrah! We had arrived in Thekkady – a town that straddles the Periyar National Park.  Today it encompasses over 925 square kilometres of forests, plains and wetlands and is the product of years of organic growth and conservation starting in the 1930s as a simple effort to stop the encroachment of tea plantations near […]

The Rocky Road to Thekkady

1.2.3.4.5 Early morning mist came flooding down the mountains as we tucked into our “Wonderful” Toast. I say Toast.. Slightly warmed bread is a better description. Today we would be heading south to the town of Kumily and the Periyar National Park, located in the Thekkady area. Our hope would be to discover some elephants […]

Fifty Shades of Tay

The next stop on the Kerala tour was to climb the hills of Munnar. Located 1,600 metres above sea level in the Western Ghats Mountain Range that splits Kerala from the neighbouring state of Tamil Nadu. Up here it’s all about Tea with numerous plantations surrounding the town and villages. Our day started on the […]

Beena and the Jets!!

Our next stop was Kochi (Fort Cochin) in Kerala. A few days earlier we had emailed a homestay we had found online called Beena’s. We later found out how lucky we were to get a room here as this place was a Traveller’s Choice Winner on TripAdvisor for the the last 3 years. It didn’t […]

Bangalore: Where East meets West

The journey from Hampi to Bangalore was an adventurous ride, involving a terrifying rickshaw trip and a broken-down bus. After reaching Bangalore, the travelers enjoyed a luxurious stay at Elenza hotel and explored the city, noting its development since their last visit. A visit to the Nikon repair shop and leisurely strolls made for a refreshing break before their next stop in Kerala.

This gun’s for hire..

They were just Lanterns in the Dark!! Bruce Springsteen We lit lanterns on the beach in Palolem, Goa on our final night to celebrate Karen’s birthday and the newly engaged status. As Mankar Sangranti was just on the 15th January there were plenty of sky lanterns left for us to purchase.
