Weekly Photo Challenge: Colours of the Rainbow

On seeing this week’s Photo Challenge Topic both Karen and I both said at once: “Boudhanath Stupa” While exploring this marvellous building we were enthralled by the multi-coloured Tibetan Flags that adorned it’s four corners.

Tears In Rain…

Last year Karen and I spent a few amazing weeks in Nepal. Our initial objective was just to go there to do a bit of trekking but we discovered so much more. We spent days getting lost amongst Kathmandu’s labyrinthine streets, discovering temples both hidden and looming before heading to quieter streets in Bhaktapur – […]

Weekly Photo Challenge: Reward

One of the biggest challenges on our trip to date was the trekking in Nepal. This was an ever bigger challenge for John who was suffering from Kathmandu Belly! At one point we thought only half of JK would reap the reward of making it to the Summit in Poonhill. But stubbornness won over and […]

Reeling in the Year:2014

Today marks one year since we pulled on our rucksacks and said goodbye to Lucy and Martin in Greenwich, London. Arun showcased Patan’s Durbar Square and its temples. Following their tour, they enjoyed authentic Malaysian cuisine before returning to Kathmandu.

This town is coming like a Ghost Town

Karen and John decide to break up their long bus journey to Kathmandu by visiting the cultural town of Bandipur. However, their trip involves unexpected challenges, including a shared taxi experience and being approached for money by a local girl. Despite setbacks, they enjoy exploring, dining, and ultimately return to Kathmandu.

Kathmandu among the pigeons

After five weeks in India, the travelers arrived in Kathmandu, facing a visa hiccup that required a 30-day extension. They explored the bustling Thamel area, enjoyed local cuisine, and overcame a misadventure with rabid dogs. Their journey included visits to temples and planning future travels, while navigating laundry and communication challenges.
