Packing Lists

Ever wondered what you need in your backpack for travelling the world…so are we!

Packing

Here is what we took with us:

Karen’s List:

This was a painful process of  selling, giving away and packing up all her clothes and shoes to be left with the contents to fit in a 15 kg bag, light enough to carry around.

The final cut was packed in a 55 litre back pack and a small day back- light enough to be carried and not restrict what or where we can go

From top to bottom:

  1. 3 shorts
  2. 1 skirt
  3. 5 day dresses includes 2 maxi
  4. 2 night dresses ( if we hadn’t had 2 weddings to attend would not have packed.
  5. 1 pair of running trousers
  6. 1 pair of jeans
  7. 2 trousers – 1 zip offs
  8. 1 leggings – can be pulled on if cold or for visiting a temple

On top

  1. 1 running top
  2. 4 vest tops
  3. 3 tshirts
  4. 2 long sleeve tops
  5. 2 tops sleeveless
  6. 1 thermal
  7. 2 fleece- thankful at the last minute I but 2 fleece in, it’s very cold New Delhi at night
  8. 1 water proof jacket

Underwear and Swim wear

  1. 2 walking socks
  2. 2 trainer socks
  3. 14 pants- need to have clean pants
  4. 3 bras, I strapless, 1 sport, 1 normal plus 1wearing travelingy
  5. 3 bikinis
  6. 1 pjs

Shoes and accessories 

  1. 1 flip flops
  2. 1 sandal- gold flat
  3. 1 running shoes – can double up as walking shoes
  4. 1 converse
  5. 1 pashmina
  6. 1 belt
  7. 1 small across the body bag
  8. 1 small make up bag with mini mascara, foundation, bronzer and lip gloss

John’s Packing List

John opted for a larger 70L bag and a similar day pack – his clothes take up more room!

On the bottom

  1. 1 zip off trousers
  2. 1 jeans
  3. 1 Trousers – for weddings
  4. 3 swimming shorts
  5. 5 shorts

On top

  1. 8 T-Shirt
  2. 3 Polo Shirt
  3. 2 Hoodie
  4. 4 Shirts
  5. Rain jacket

On feet

  1. 1 x running /trekking shoes
  2. 1 pair of vans
  3. 1 sandals

Underwear

  1. 9 underwear
  2. 3 hats
  3. 5 socks
  4. 1 x PJ bottoms

Essentials for both of us:

  1. Hair dryer – tiny travel 1 (thanks Shirley)
  2. Iphone
  3. Ipad to update blog
  4. Kindle – all guide books downloaded on it
  5. Camera
  6. Connector for sd card to ipad
  7. Speakers – mini
  8. Juice box so we can chargee our devices if no electricity
  9. SD card loaded with films
  10. Garmin – for runs
  11. Compose- to help my sense of direction
  12. Head torches
  13. Pen knife
  14. Washing liquid and washing rope
  15. Travel towels
  16. Sun glasses
  17. Cards and card games for long train journeys
  18. Pod packs which compress all our clothes
  19. Ear plugs
  20. Eye masks
  21. Silk sleeping liners
  22. Hand sanitiser
  23. Wet wipes
  24. Binoculars

Medicine bag – filled by Helen, key contents:

  1. Plasters
  2. Bandages
  3. Lots of immodium and rehydration sachets
  4. Painkillers
  5. Antibiotics
  6. Malarone tablets for malaria areas.
  7. Bite cream
  8. Clove oil

Toiletries:

  1. Tooth brushes and paste
  2. Mini shampoo and conditioners
  3. Shower gel
  4. Deodorants
  5. Mini sun cream
  6. repel bug spray
  7. Moisturisers
  8. Face wash
  9. Razor and shaving foam

Admin:

  1. Folder of all our hotel, train and flight bookings to date
  2. Photocopies of our passport
  3. Lots of passport photos for visa
  4. Copies of travel insurance
  5. Card reader to transfer cash if need be
